Case Study

Campfire Kit

Campfire Kit is an identity inspired by an illustration I created a couple of years ago depicting the 6 steps to building a campfire. Using that illustration as the backbone, I created an identity and package design for a brand whose mission is to make the outdoors more accessible to everyone.

The Goal

The original illustration was an exercise in creating a "How To" illustration with little to no words. Similar to the kind you'd find in a certain Swedish furniture company's instruction booklets. I figured because of the minimal nature, the illustrations would be great to incorporate into some kind of identity. So why not turn "How To Build A Campfire" into a legitimate brand?

The Result

Using the graphics as the driving force of the identity, a playful and outdoorsy identity was created. Throughout the entire design I kept illustration style in mind and chose type and colors that complemented the drawings well. I am still tinkering away with this project, and am excited to create a full packaging design in the near future.
